Description
Medium sized specimen tree; 40-50 feet high and half as wide. Pyramidal in form; short trunk with bottom branches touching ground. Dark green foliage. Small edible nuts in the fall. Flaking, mottled bark; quite ornamental.

Soil
Well-drained soils. pH adaptive.

Notes
Does best with hot summers and cold winters. Moderate growth rate.

Grows fast - 3ft per year in clay soil. Self-sterile - nuts are almost all empty if there is no pollinator nearby. Mine is much better looking than the photo.
